Cleaning is one of the many activities that I enjoy doing as it makes other people happy when they see a clean place. I enjoy seeing a clean place that one can use comfortably without any second thoughts or doubts of its goodness. It is very welcoming.

Dora has been my role model of wanting to always do things well; first because they are to be offered to God and secondly as a service to others. I feel happy when others enjoy having a clean place. Sometimes cleaning can be taxing but it is very fulfilling and never a menial task.

What helps me most is to think: “is this how I would like to find the facility?” This motivates me to leave it well presented to those who will come and use the place. I would like to share with you some details on how to take care of bathrooms and toilets in order to have them clean and pleasant.

• Check that the toilet roll paper is enough for whoever will come next. It is good to replenish or leave an extra one, when the one in use is about to finish.
• Clean daily. I find that this saves a lot of time for the cleaning, as the place does not get dirt build-up, one uses less detergents and most of all, leaves a pleasant odour.
• Always check out for stains that need attention and clean them as soon as possible.
• Check that there are no leaks as these destroy surfaces. If not attended to quickly, it makes the place unkempt and looks uncared for.
• To have a waste bin available to the users helps people not to litter the floor.

The bathroom is also a place that needs attention as it is used at least twice a day and it should be always attractive and welcoming. One can check the following:

• That all hair is collected before pouring water, because when it enters the hole, with time, it accumulates and blocks the hole and as a result produces an unpleasant odour. To clean off this mess might cost money and the cleaning can be quite uncomfortable for the person doing it.
• Also, it is a good thing to see that the bottom part of the tiles does not get a build-up of grease. This tarnishes the tiles and the place does not look well taken care of, even if it had been cleaned. To remove the grease, I find it easier to dab the scouring pad with the detergent, multipurpose soap and rub on the surface and occasionally paste the soap. The grease comes off very easily and the tiles get back to their original appearance.

When I do this daily, the cleaning is faster and I get good results. It makes work enjoyable and I manage to do a lot within a short span of time. It makes me happy to see other people using a clean place comfortably and with contentment.
