Strathmore University Remembers its Founder

Since last year, the 2nd to the 6th of October plays host to a bevvy of special events and activities in Strathmore University when they celebrate Founder's Day.

The inspiration behind the university - the founder - is none other than St. Josemaria Escriva who through his preaching, writings and personal example proclaimed that everyone is called to live the human virtues of punctuality, order, industriousness, cheerfulness and so on, and the theological virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity to a heroic degree. And by so doing, these ordinary people in the middle of the world will be growing in sanctity, love for God and service to their communities.

Strathmore University begun in 1961 as an A-level college. In March of 1966, the first intake of Accountancy students joined Strathmore. In 1993 Strathmore College merged with Kianda College (the first multi-racial Secretarial and Business College for women in pre-independence Kenya) and moved to the present campus in Madaraka.
